Pet Therapy

Next lets talk about Pet therapy. I have been involved with pet therapy from the beginning. Animal lovers have always known the benefits having pets. It has mental, physical, and behavioral benefits. Now Doctors finally know as well! Let's face it we all love dogs because of their ability to love us unconditionally. Especially when we are unlovable and no one else will love us! We could go on forever about lower stress and blood pressure levels, faster healing times, less depression and so on. Pets change peoples lives. They enrich and enhance them and many people don't have that available to them. Pet owners live longer. Some people have been separated from their pets by injury or illness, age or other complications. They brighten up quickly when the therapy animals are brought. It is magic, it is a worthwhile cause to be involved with.

Doberman Pinschers are natural candidates for PET Therapy as they are often affectionately called "Velcro dogs." Dobermans love people and demand to be around them! Dobermans are shameless sometimes when it comes time for being pet. A Doberman may be bonded to you and love you best, but most Dobermans will make the rounds in a room finding who will give them attention. A Dobermans coat makes themideal for grooming, a bath can consist of a daily wipe down with a wet towell, which is far easier than long haired breeds. A Doberman that was properly bred has confidence and can enter hospitals, nursing homes etc without fear. Dobermans that do PET Therapy are great ambassadors to the breed, and don't require as much advanced training as other disciplines. Take some time to give back to your community and do some PET Therapy with your Doberman, you'll be glad you did!
